Carly is a board-certified music therapist who relocated to southern Maine from New York. While in New York, Carly taught music at a self-contained school for students with disabilities and pursued her degree in Music Therapy at New York University. She holds a master’s degree in Special Education in addition to her master’s degree in Music Therapy.
Carly has experience working with groups and individuals of varying ages, abilities, and backgrounds across a wide range of settings, including homes, schools, hospitals, early childhood programs, group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, adult day programs, and more.
As a strong advocate of the neurodiversity movement, Carly works from a humanistic, strengths-based perspective. She believes deeply in meeting individuals where they are and honoring each person’s unique ways of being, communicating, and engaging with the world.
Carly’s philosophy is rooted in an ecological approach to music therapy: one that recognizes humans as a part of nature, embraces our profound interconnectedness, and celebrates the beauty that exists both within us and in the world around us.
What is an Ecotone?
In nature, an Ecotone is an area where two different ecosystems meet and interact. These transitional spaces are homes to unique species and are often rich in diversity and growth.
In music therapy, ecotones represents the meeting place between client and therapist, coming together through shared musical experiences. Through this collaboration, something unique and beautiful can emerge.
